it's 6:07am and im sitting at the little rock airport listening to new mixes of a few songs! i got them in this morning, "if i where you", "it's alright with me" and "sweet medicine". for those of you that might not know what mixing is its the part of the recording process where somebody sits and listens to EVERYTHING we've recorded and figures out how loud everything should be, or if it should be in there at all! its a tedious process and youd be surprised what a difference it makes for us, the listeners! its sounding great!!! i really cant wait till you all get to hear it! anywayssss so ive been meaning to blog for a while! ive been wanting to tell you guys about the band! i think most of you might have already discovered who everybody is BUT let me tell you a little bit about them. we had a large public audition in LA with lots of great players and i also invited a few friends and acquaintances, which oddly enough, became my band! they beat out the rest :) lets start with guitar. playing guitar is a friend of mine that i went to college with! his name is steven kanicka, one of my favorite people in the world. weve been talking for years literally about playing together someday and someday has come! now steven had a friend from nashville that he toured with about 6 years and hadn't really spoken too since but thought he'd be just the guy for the job. so we called him up, invited him and ben davis turned out to be one of the coolest guys ive ever met! and the only blonde guy in the band... haha ben davis(you can call him bendarules... haha) bass player extraordinaire! next up we have Jordan Critz(pronounced like cry not crib... not mess that one up! haha) Jordan i met through my friends in the band Green River Ordinance. they told me, man if you ever need a keyboard guy this guy is amazing! great musician, great writer and a great friend! so i added him on facebook about a year ago and told him "hey the GRO guys told me about ya... whenever it comes time to put a band together id love for you to come out!" and then a year later, he did just that and wowed everybody! So Jordan is my Musical Director. he plays multiple instrument during the sets and helps direct our show! theres also a funny coincidence with Jordan and Stephen. they recently met in dallas and had been hanging alot before the auditions and when i invited them both to come out they where like "whoa how do you know that guy?!" haha i thought it was pretty awesome. now i saved the best for last... drummer rule! haha and my drummer... boiii this guy is GOOD! His name is Eli Logothetis... some of you might now him if you have been to a David Archuleta show! thats actually where i met Eli, at the glass house in Pomona when he was playing for Archie and i was danggg impressed. a couple months later i saw him at another archie show but he wasn't playing for him anymore so i was like hey! you should come play with me!!! haha so he came out to the auditions and what do you know. he stole the show. :) so theres my band! theres a few pics posted up around but ill repost it so you can see us! so there we are, those are the guys that will travel with me for the next year or so! For those of you wondering about the heavy steadies, they are back doing their thing and it has been so amazing to play with them for the last year! they have been like brothers to me and i couldn't be where i am without them! my first friends in la and my first band to play with! i love those guys and am forever grateful for all the love and direction they gave me! you guys rock! and now the planes boarding... everyones on but me!!! gotta run!!! ttyl!!!

Jason, thanks so much for introducing us to your new band. Do they have a band name or is it just Jason Castro's band? It sounds like fate that you were all meant to be together. How cool that it worked out the way it did. I just got back from KC late last night from hearing you play on Friday night. Thanks for a memorable time! Next time I see you, you will be with a full band. Cannot wait!!

What an interesting peek into the making of your career.. I am excited to hear your album. I love enough of your songs, I am sure you could easily have 2 albums. The band guys sound like a perfect fit for you. I am still hoping you may do a before show video like you did at the Flytrap. It was cool to see you just before you performed. We are all loving the pictures you and your Dad have been posting.
