Jon Caramanica of the New York Times Music Review was in attendence at Joe's Pub and printed his assessment of Jason's performance in his article Onetime ‘Idol’ Prospect Finds His Inner Rebel.  Verdict?  He liked it.  He really liked it.

    Congrats on the review - we know your great, but it's nice to see good ratings from the critics also. I think your version of "Crazy" is wonderful - I listen to the whole TAMU concert everyday (on Street Team Northeast) - at least twice, and I love the way you ended it. Don't stop singing it!     There seem to be few people, outside of his fanbase, that do "get Jason". I know that for the most part American Idol sure didn't. And, I can't say I agree with everything that Jon Caramanica said in his review, (mostly the negative points he made about Jason's A.I. days.) To me, he was always amazing. But, I will say that he's come a long way since then and I am so happy that people are beginning to stand up and notice him for the talented, authentic artist that he truly is. Congrats Jason! You deserve this.
